Whoohoo, Wednesday! You’ve already made it through a whole half of a week, go you! You know what else you’ve done? You’ve joined us for yet another gush-fest to honor a lady we love. Welcome to Woman Crush Wednesday!
This week’s gal has always had a very special place in our heart, the one and only Busy Phillips. Chances are, you’ve binged at least one show she’s starred in. From hour-long dramas to snappy sitcoms, Busy always brings her signature effervescent energy to the screen. In honor of this week’s Vice Principals season finale on HBO, let’s raise the roof for Busy.
WHO’S THAT GAL: Busy Philipps
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Busy is one of those actresses that has no problem redefining the best friend role — and she’s so damn good at it, she’s inspired this very crush! She can always be counted on to bring excitement and hilarity to pretty much any role. Basically, it’s safe to say this lady has stolen a scene or two in her career. We’ve all hoped for a college roommate like her, or a best pal you can call anytime who will be there to listen to you vent…over a big glass of wine of course.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Busy’s first major role was, NBD, Freaks and Geeks, only one of the most iconic shows of our generation. As Kim Kelly, she played James Franco’s girlfriend on the dramedy that also launched the careers of Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, creator Paul Feig, and producer Judd Apatow. And just in case you weren’t feeling a little bit jealous of Busy already, her next big role was that of Audrey on Dawson’s Creek, where she got to play the roommate of Joey (Katie Holmes) and love interest of Pacey (Joshua Jackson). Swoon!
After those big moves, you’d think it would be all downhill from there, but it’s been quite the opposite for Busy. She was super funny as Karen in the White Chicks movie opposite Shawn and Marlon Wayans. Following that, Busy starred in the sitcom Love, Inc, as a dating consultant — you know, one of the “those who can’t do, teach” kind. She also spent 14 episodes on ER before appearing in the rom-coms Made of Honor, He’s Just Not That Into You, and I Don’t Know How She Does It. She’s also particularly delightful in the indie A Case of You. But many people know her from 6 incredible seasons of Cougar Town. Opposite Courteney Cox, Christa Miller, and Dan Byrd, Busy got to bring the laughs as Laurie, and her timing was just as fabulous as her outfits.

Lately, we’ve seen Busy as Gale on Vice Principals, the ex of Neal Gamby, perhaps one of Danny McBride’s wackiest characters yet. Their squabbles over how to raise their daughter Janelle (Maya G. Love) have induced some of the biggest giggles of the season so far.
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER NEXT: Busy will be back for more of the Vice Principals craziness in season two of the HBO hit comedy. Plus, she’s got the movie FML up next, about two internet stars that capture videos of their epic road trip. But for now, we’ll be enjoying her as one of our favorite Tweeters – from her hilarious opinions, to the beautiful custom cakes that she makes, she’s always got something fun going on.
