Final Shots: Criterion Collection’s New Home, FilmStruck, Reveals Launch Date

Time Warner’s Turner Classic Movies along with the Criterion Collection have revealed the official release date for their brand new collaborative SVOD movie platform, FilmStruck. The $6.99 per month subscription service, which will launch on October 19th, will house many contemporary and classic arthouse, indie, foreign and cult films.

According to a press release, the platform’s exclusive film selection will include Mad Max, A Hard Day’s Night and Seven Samurai to name a few, with each film complemented by rare footage and special features. Criterion’s current catalogue, which is currently available via Hulu, will also soon become FilmStruck exclusives. The platform will be available exclusively on Amazon Fire TV, web, iOS and Android devices at launch, and on Apple TV and other platforms and devices in the coming months.

Screencrush reports the Criterion Collection leaves Hulu on November 11th.

Sling TV has launched three new channels today on their streaming service including The Game Show Network, AXS TV, and HDNet Movies. According to a press release, AXS TV in now part of the core Sling Orange and Sling Blue services, while GSN is available via the Comedy Plus Extra pack and HDNet Movies is available via the Hollywood Extra pack. Both add-on packages remain at $5 per month.

Netflix has ordered six new animated original kids series including LEGO Elves and Avi Arad’s preschool-level Super Monsters. According to a press release, each of the refreshing new pilots, four of which are geared towards older children, are set for premiere in 2017 and 2018.

The very first images of Alison Brie on set for Netflix’s forthcoming 80s female wrestling pilot G.L.O.W. have been leaked. The 10-episode comedy series, from Orange Is The New Black creator Jenji Kohan, also stars Marc Maron, Britt Baron, and Jackie Tohn:

Amazon announced at New York Comic Con today that it has picked up the acclaimed true-life horror story podcast Lore as a Prime Video original series. According to a press release, The Walking Dead producer Gale Ann Hurd will executive produce the 10-episode first season along with Ben Silverman and Howard Owens.
