At this point in time, Alex Trebek has been hosting Jeopardy! for over three decades, and he may be getting sick of it. I’m not saying that because it’s logical to assume a person would get sick of anything after doing it consistently for 30 years. I’m saying that because last night, Trebek unleashed the full force of his sass on one unsuspecting contestant, and it was pure comedy gold.
Last night was business as usual on the game show. Alex was making his rounds (I feel safe calling him Alex at this point in pop culture), asking each contestant what he or she did for a living or for fun. That’s when the sass struck. Trebek’s victim? Susan Cole, whose only crime seems to be loving something called nerdcore hip-hop. We’ll let Cole explain what it is:
We think it sounds delightful, Cole. Alex Trebek disagrees. Complete with a perfectly-timed comedic pause, our trash-talking Trebek dished out this burn: “Losers, in other words?”
OHHHHHHH SNAP! I have done absolutely no research on this, but last night may have marked the sickest burn in Jeopardy! history. Answering obscure trivia every night for hours on end may be nerdy, but do you know what makes you a loser? Rapping about video games. Trebek has spoken.
