In a recent interview, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker explained how an episode of the hit series titled “The Waldo Moment” in Season 2 was quite prescient, ultimately predicting the rise of Donald Trump whether he realized it at the time or not. He also went on to express his disdain for Brexit and how we’re all going crazy because of the internet.

During the conversation with Vulture, Brooker explained that “Waldo was loosely based on the British politician Boris Johnson, who’s kind of a quasi-Trump. He was one of the guys behind Brexit and also quite a clown.” Speaking on Brexit, the show’s creator added that he is part of the “liberal-media London bubble” and as a result, “voting to leave was madness.” Seasons 1 & 2 of the acclaimed drama series are currently available for streaming on Netflix, with Season 3 set to premiere this Friday.
