Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life

Powered by Reelgood

Today Netflix gave us the wonderful gift of the first trailer for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. It’s basically two and a half minutes of pure perfection leading up to the release of the four-part event on November 25th.

We’re delighted with pop culture references galore, typical townie antics, plenty of swoon-worthy Luke and Lorelai moments, and appearances from all of Rory’s boyfriends’ (though Jess is the only one with a line in the trailer, just saying). On a sadder note we learn that Rory is unemployed and uncertain with her ambitions, that Lorelai doesn’t know what direction she’s heading in, that Richard’s funeral took place, and that Emily is reeling following Richard’s death.

Good or bad, happy or sad, we had a lot of feelings after watching the trailer — 39 feelings to be exact. Keep reading for all of the truly insightful thoughts, questions, and emotions we had during the two minute slice of heaven.

1. Thank god the Gilmores still have their delightful eating habits.
2. Why is last night a blur? Did they get drunk together? Food coma? We have to know!
3. Has so much time passed that the girls’ can’t recall pop culture? Such a dark thought.
4. “Rocked a Spelling” is going to be my new catch phrase for life.
5. “Teppanyaki: Grill of Death” sounds like a very pleasant way to go.
6. My winter wear is never that chic.
7. Why don’t they have a lot of time? Where are they going? What are they doing?!
8. The fact that those coffee cups don’t appear to be from Luke’s is insulting.
9. Luuuukkkkeee!
10. It’s cute that Luke’s still trying to tamp down their eating habits. It’s a fool’s errand, but cute nonetheless.

11. I don’t know if I’m impressed by or scared of that portrait of Richard. It is, after all, tall like him.
12. Why is Rory rootless? What happened to being Christiane Amanpour?
13. Did Rory lose Christiane’s business card? Is that where she went wrong?
14. If Rory is visiting Logan in London we’re going to have some issues.
15. Emily Gilmore’s sass survived Richard’s death and for that we could not be more grateful.
16. Don’t pretend like you don’t know who Kirk is, Emily!
17. What is Kirk doing at Friday Night Dinner?!
18. Oh my god, that song! *Cue sobbing*
19. THE GILMORE GUYS!
20. Why does Lorelai sound like she’s trying to convince herself that she and Luke are happy?

21. I’m already buying tissues to stock up for Richard’s funeral — Costco sized tissues.
22. Why did Richard break his promise to Emily that she could go first?
23. Emily Gilmore is wearing jeans. EMILY. GILMORE. IS. WEARING. JEANS.
24. Does anything bring Emily joy anymore? Remember how much she loved those dining room chairs?
25. Jess got hotter. It shouldn’t be possible, but it is.
26. Jess is the boyfriend that Rory shouldn’t have underwear around, TBH.
27. Is Jess going to repeat a version of the epic “Why did you drop out of Yale?” speech? (We hope so.)
28. Taylor is still grumpy and the town still teases him. It’s kind of great.
29. I live for moments like these too, Michel!
30. A pig! A pig? Yep, a pig.

31. God I love Stars Hollow.
32. The Gilmore women are killing the fashion game.
33. Dean’s smolder is making me blush even though I’m all, “Ugh Dean!”
34. Is “that was pornographic” Sookie’s only line in the revival? Is it sad if it is? (Answer: no.)
35. Paris is back!
36. Logan’s sexy smirk!
37. Lane still plays drums!
38. Awkward dancing pilgrims! One of whom is Sutton Foster!
39. Yes, that did feel good Rory.
