NETFLIX

The Crown: Season One *Netflix Original

There are few things more addictive and interesting than British monarchy drama. Netflix knows about our obsession, and they’re here to cater to it with their new super expensive series, The Crown. Planned as six seasons that cover 10 years each, this British-American original chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Make some tea and start binging.

Lovesick: Season Two *Netflix Original

Sex is already awkward, but when you add STDs into the mix, it’s a disaster. The very real nightmare of telling your sexual partners about your STDs is what this British comedy focuses on, and it is perfectly cringeworthy. Formerly called Scrotal Recall, this comedy will convince you that your own love life is probably OK.

Boyhood (2014)

Starring Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette, and Ethan Hawke, this is the innovative film that took audiences by storm in 2014. Filmed over the course of 12 years, Boyhood follows the joys and traumas of growing up through the eyes of a child. Stream it with tissues at hand this month.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life *Netflix Original

Schedule some time this Thanksgiving to be with one of your favorite onscreen families, the Gilmores. Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival is almost here, which means you still have time to binge the original. Divided into four 90-minute specials, “Winter,” “Spring,” “Summer,” and “Fall,” this promises to be your antidote to the show’s universally disliked final season.

The Jungle Book (2016)

Shortly after Thanksgiving, Disney’s live-action version of one of its most beloved stories will be available to stream. Jump back into the jungle with Mowgli and appreciate the voice acting talents of Idris Elba, Bill Murray, and other big names. This is the second addition since Disney’s deal with Netflix came into effect, and we have to say, we are liking this.

Rocky (1976)

All of the Rocky movies, including the recently-released Creed, are available on Hulu and Prime Video this November, but we’re highlighting the original. Fargo (1996)

Before we were obsessing over the Blumquists and the Gerhardt clan, before we knew of the dynamic greatness that was Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton‘s rivalry, the Coen brothers gave us this memorable mystery. Macy, and Steve Buscemi, this midwestern dark comedy is the perfect after work watch if you want to wrap yourself up in blankets and emerge yourself in a great story.
