David Blaine Eats A Live Frog On ‘The Tonight Show’

David Blaine doesn’t do “tricks;” he does illusions.

The mental maestro and possible sorcerer recently appeared on The Tonight Show to promote his new ABC special Beyond Magic, which premieres tonight at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, and to vex the holy hell out of Jimmy Fallon and The Roots with a series of card illusions. Blaine’s unworldly mystical abilities are incredible enough on their own, but Fallon’s joyful fascination with the well-known man of magic enhances both the drama and the humor.

“You’re just amazing. You’re the greatest man. Oh my gosh,” the late night host gushed after one of Blaine’s illusions. Cute, right? A deck of playing cards is one thing, but Blaine’s last illusion was in a whole other stratosphere of astonishment.

Blaine told Fallon the story of “The Human Aquarium,” a tale about a guy who supposedly converted his stomach into an aquarium where he could store live creatures and bring them up at will. I think you know where this is going.

After drinking a glass of water, David Blaine threw up a live frog, because… magic? BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE. After showing Jimmy and The Roots that the frog was indeed alive, he then swallowed the frog, returning the amphibian to his humble home: Blaine’s tummy.

Happy Tuesday!

If you’re looking to infuse your day with even more shock and awe before tonight’s premiere of Beyond Magic, David Blaine’s 2010 special What Is Magic? is currently streaming on Netflix. The intriguing documentary follows the serene illusionist as he dazzles and perplexes stars like John Mayer and Orlando Bloom with a bewildering array of street magic. While What Is Magic? won’t answer all of your magic related questions — most notably, “Mr. Blaine are you now or have you ever been a warlock?” — it’s a captivating 40-minutes of wonder.
