Final Shots: Dave Chappelle To Make 3 Netflix Stand Up Comedy Specials

Shortly after his recent re-emergence onto the scene, Netflix has nabbed 3 original stand up comedy specials from Dave Chappelle, the celebrated comedian’s first new content in 12 years. The platform will release a brand new exclusive special as well as two never-before-seen performances from the comedian’s personal archives.

According to Deadline, Chappelle and director Stan Lathan will produce the original feature which will tentatively premiere in 2017. The existing specials, which were also directed by Lathan, were filmed at Austin City Limits and The Hollywood Palladium and will also premiere in 2017. While financial details on the landmark deal are scarce, Netflix recently acquired two new stand up special from Chris Rock for a record $40 million.

Netflix is claiming that Amazon paid way more than the reported $200 million for Prime Video’s new Top Gear spinoff series, The Grand Tour. The platform’s CCO Ted Sarandos, who was privy to early negotiations for the show, was quoted stating “that’s an under-reported number. It was about a quarter of a billion dollars.” [The Telegraph]
