Powered by Reelgood

If you didn’t see Don’t Think Twice in theaters this summer, you heard about it. Your favorite comedian, actor, director, and/or comedy fan friend tweeted about it. They loved it. And there’s a reason why.
Mike Birbiglia’s second film, available now on Digital HD, about a group of pals in a comedy troupe will hit a very sensitive nerd for anyone who knows what the letters UCB mean. The movie earnestly depicts what happens when the group becomes divided after some achieve the success they’ve all dreamed of, and each person must grapple with where they currently are, and where they want to be in their lives. It’s funny and touching and oh so awkward at times because we’ve all been there in our own ways. You don’t have to be a comedy performer to understand the feelings this group of friends finds themselves tangled in.
Don’t Think Twice is the perfect movie to put on when you want to crawl under a blanket. It will make you cringe, make you giggle, and give you the same warmness inside your body that you feel on the outside, because you know, that blanket.
And you know what? With the long weekend approaching, who says you ever have to get out from underneath the blanket? Not me! I say stay there! And while you’re at it, go ahead and binge some other movies and TV shows featuring the cast of Don’t Think Twice. Oh, and look! Here’s a handy guide, just for you.

'Community'

Community changed the half-hour comedy TV show more than we even realize yet. How a show about a community college study group brought us to paintball war zones, alternate universes, and trampolines, we might never know, but we enjoyed the hell out of every minute of it. Shoutout to this show for showcasing some of our finest comedic talents including Donald Glover, Joel McHale, Allison Brie, and DTT’s Gillian Jacobs.

'Garfunkel and Oates'

Our recent Woman Crush Wednesday, Kate Micucci, is half of the singing, joke-slinging duo, Garfunkel and Oates with her comedy BFF Riki Lindhome. Check out all the delightful comedy they provided us in their IFC show, available now on Amazon Video.

'Girls'

Tami Sagher is the secret weapon of not only Don’t Think Twice, but also the shows she’s written for, which includes Inside Amy Schumer, 30 Rock, and Girls. Watch it all now before the final season airs next year on HBO!

'Key and Peele'

Keegan-Michael Key is exceptional in Don’t Think Twice. This becomes apparent pretty early on, but it’s not so much of a surprise for anyone who obsessively watched every single sketch over the 5 seasons of Comedy Central’s Key and Peele. One of the most revolutionary sketch comedy shows of our time, Key and Peele were never afraid to get absurd or go near sensitive topics and that is precisely what makes this show so utterly rewatchable.

'Love'

The Netflix original series Love follows Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust as two total millennials figuring out their feelings for each other, their jobs, and occasionally movie theme songs. The first season makes for a great binge — it feels like you’re joining them for their all-too-real dates, with a second season arriving in 2017.

'Sleepwalk With Me'

Mike Birbiglia’s first film, based on his one-man show, Sleepwalk with Me, came out in 2012 and was instantly a hit with comedy fans. If you like Don’t Think Twice, you’ll probably find some enjoyment from this one too, about a comedian who wrestles with his career, his relationship, and that pesky sleepwalking thing.

'The Chris Gethard Show'

Chris Gethard is one of the most unique comedians today. He’s entirely paved his own road, from the UCB theater to his own talk show on Fusion, which, NBD, is sometimes pulling bigger guests than other late night shows. It’s bizarre and joyous and a must-see for any fan of the underdog.
