Late music icon Prince was reportedly mulling a Netflix reality series prior to his death. The Paisley Park-based show would have potentially starred the artist, but he was strongly against the idea.

Speculation came from a brand new GQ feature where the artist’s closest friends and collaborators spoke about his legacy and final days, photographer Maya Washington stated that she had offered to participate in the show but only if he was in it himself. Prince’s response to her was apparently “Maya, I can’t be funny. I have to save the world.”

A spokesperson for Netflix has since confirmed the claim to Vulture, stating “we did have discussions about it, but sadly for all of us it did not come to fruition prior to his passing.”
