Final Shots: BBC, ITV Announce U.S. British Content Streaming Service BritBox

BBC and ITV have announced their partnership on a brand new U.S. British content streaming service called BritBox. AMC Networks will also reportedly take a minority stake in the ad-free subscription SVOD platform.

According to Variety, BritBox will launch in the first quarter of 2017 in the U.S., when subscription prices will be revealed. The new service touts popular dramas like New Blood, In the Dark, and Silent Witness in addition to a number of back catalogue titles like Pride and Prejudice. Select current British series like EastEnders will be available to stream as early as 24 hours after they debut in the U.K.

Hulu and MGM TV are developing a TV series adaptation of the 1974 cult movie, Foxy Brown. Starring Meagan Good, the SVOD original series will be executive produced by DeVon Franklin and Tony Krantz and will follow Brown as she seeks revenge for the death of her boyfriend by a murderous drug syndicate. Netflix has released the trailer to Gabriel Iglesias’ new stand-up comedy special, I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry. The one-hour original feature, during which the comedian (known to many as Fluffy) reflects on his life and more, premieres Tuesday, December 20:

Amazon is reportedly looking to enter the live television streaming arena in 2017. Turner CEO John Martin seems to have confirmed the prior suspicion at the recent Recode conference, stating that the tech giant is “one of” many cord-cutting platforms currently pursuing this model. Comedy Central has released the trailer to the forthcoming seventh and final season of Workaholics. According to a press release, the 10-episode new season, which guest stars Nina Dobrev and Dennis Quaid, will premiere on January 11. Click here to watch.
