The two meet in the "vacation town" San Junipero and are instantly bewitched by each other. The beach house love scene is a glorious culmination of their building attraction.

Hoo boy! 2016 was quite the year for hot and steamy television sex scenes. Between HBO, Starz, Netflix, and good old fashioned cable, TV viewers were privy to some eye-popping, heart-pounding, and pulse-racing sex scenes. Some of these sex scenes are ground-breaking because of their honest attempt to depict human emotion, while others were memorable because of how insanely shocking they were to watch on screen.

Over the last year, we saw orgies a-plenty and elicit affairs everywhere. Peaky Blinders introduced us to a fun asphyxiation trick and Ilana Glazer got creative with Blake Griffin’s dong. There were twosomes, threesomes, and forays into anal play. We saw straight sex, gay sex, and superhero sex. Oh, and a certain hip hop superstar named 50 Cent allegedly went full frontal on his hit Starz show, Power. (He went back and forth on being proud or offended by the scene, but honestly, looking at it carefully we think it could have been a prosthetic — or not.)

To cap off the year, we’re counting down the 16 steamiest sex scenes that we saw on our television screens this year. Some of these are bonkers and others are beautiful, but they all had us sitting up straight, fanning ourselves.
