Now that you’re recovered from what was surely an epic New Year’s party, it’s time for another celebration. That’s right, it’s Woman Crush Wednesday!
This week, we’re honoring a lady who just happens to have a birthday tomorrow — the lovely January Jones. She’s proven that she’s so much more than Mad Men, the role that ignited our woman crush, with her portrayal of a (literally) smokin’ mom in the 60s. Since her time on the AMC drama, we’ve learned that she is definitely a fashion icon, an excellent comedic actress, and kind of a goofball too!

WHO’S THAT GAL:
January Jones
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Lately, we’ve been obsessed with the current third season of the Fox comedy, The Last Man on Earth. January stars opposite a cast that includes Will Forte, Mary Steenburgen, and Kristen Schaal, and her character Melissa has gone to some very new and unexpected places this season. As Melissa starts to break, being a part of seemingly the only group of live humans on Earth, she’s brought a sentimental side to a character that wasn’t always so deep. January’s acting has been incredible, and that includes her characters sad, unfortunate, and yet also silly roleplaying of The Shawshank Redemption.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: January kickstarted her career in films such as The Glass House, Bandits, Taboo, and Anger Management, but it was her role as Alyson Hannigan’s sister in American Wedding that got people asking “Ooh, who is she?” From there, she had a small part in Love Actually, before also appearing in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, We Are Marshall, Pirate Radio, and Unknown. X-Men: First Class was the first in a series of action movies where she kicked major butt, including the films Sweetwater and Good Kill.

But of course, it is her role as Betty Draper on Mad Men where she made us feel nearly every emotion on the spectrum for her character and her relationship with her (ex)husband Don (Jon Hamm). While Betty was not always the most likable character, let’s give some credit where credit is due — could YOU be that rude to Jon Hamm? It takes a real actress to be that bold, to make you feel so much during her scenes, and January is that gal.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER NEXT: The Last Man on Earth doesn’t return until the spring (why?!), but we cannot wait to see where Melissa goes from here. In the meantime, we’ll be glued to January’s Instagram, which gives us everything we ever want from a celebrity: it’s silly, self-deprecating, and glamorous all at once — just like January. Wishing our #WCW a Happy Birthday and excellent, entertaining year ahead!
