Afternoon Delight: ‘Amazon Reviews: The Musical’ Brilliantly Turns Purchasers into Performers

What better way to prepare for the fast-approaching weekend than by indulging in the some of the Internet’s most well-done web content? Take advantage of your lunch break and treat yourself to Afternoon Delight, Decider’s carefully curated picks of the best short-form content available on the world wide web. This week we’re spotlighting Amazon Reviews: The Musical, a hilariously brilliant new web series that delivers exactly what it promises to – musical renditions of the best Amazon reviews out there.

Internet comments may be one of life’s greatest simple pleasures — whether it’s an impassioned lover of YouTube or an angry consumer of B-list autobiographies, there’s truly something for everyone in the comments section of the World Wide Web. It’s hard to imagine making Amazon reviews being any better than they already are, but Brooklyn-based comedian Lauren Maul figured out how to do just that — by turning them into musical performances.

Ranging from products like Amazon’s top-selling lubricant and toilet paper to a tiny piano and Jason Priestley’s memoir, Maul and her hilarious cast manage to make art from the most unexpected material. “Seriously, just four bolts!” to construct a cat castle has never been delivered with more joy and enthusiasm than when it’s set to an upbeat tempo and cleverly choreographed. There’s a sheer brilliance in taking Internet gold and putting it to song, and Maul has certainly struck an uproarious chord with this web series. So take some time to binge all seven episodes and be prepared to hum these ridiculously human tunes all the way into the weekend.

Watch the pilot above, and be sure to check out their website for more upbeat installments!
