The hour-long Netflix original is a bizarro variety show telethon and novela, with the goal of helping Santa (yes, Santa) create enough babies to distribute his surplus of toys to next Christmas. Sound just a little bit ridiculous? That’s because it comes from the minds of The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer all make appearances, with Schaffer co-directing) and Comedy Bang! Bang!, with Scott Aukerman serving as co-director as well.

There are sketches, songs, showdowns and more, all with the intention of putting you in the mood. If not for love, then definitely for LOLs. Fred Armisen, Michael Sheen, Will Forte, Eric Andre, Maya Rudolph, and Casey Wilson all make memorable appearances, but it is a duet between Randall Park and Sarah Silverman that will simultaneously turn you on and crack you up.

Bolton has teamed up with The Lonely Island twice before, once for the “Jack Sparrow” digital short on SNL, which gets an interpretive dance in this special, and he makes a cameo in the trio’s 2016 film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. So you know the guy has a sense of humor. But what he does so perfectly is not just a joke-punchline situation. It’s that he can keep a steely exterior, seeming just a bit too stiff for silly comedy, until he brings the perfect line delivery or quip to a scenario that is nothing short of surprising and impressive.
