HBO knows a little something about controversial content. The cable network is renowned for providing top notch entertainment that’s not afraid to push the envelope. I mean, let’s take a look at some of their content: Real Sex, Taxicab Confessions, Bored to Death!

Okay, okay, Bored to Death wasn’t exactly provocative, but it was an entertaining gem of a sitcom. You’re telling me that the comedic trio of Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, and Zach Galifianakis only get 24 episodes? C’mon!

Now that we’ve dimmed the lights, Decider After Dark is going to revisit 10 of HBO’s most controversial sexytime scenes. From modern favorites like Game of Thrones and Girls to acclaimed classics like The Sopranos, here are 10 memorable scenes that caused quite a stir.

'Girls:' Let Him Eat Cake

Never a series to shy away from provocative content, Girls aired a scene that launched 1,000s of internet articles back in 2015 when it showed Allison William’s character Marnie receiving a rim job. The actress provided some behind-the-scenes details about the memorable scene to In Touch back in 2015.

“I mean, think about where he is,” Williams said. “I grabbed the makeup girl and said, ‘I want to smell like a cake,’ so we put vanilla cream everywhere so everything smells good. And then I’m like, ‘Grace, we’re going to rig something invisible from the side but that feels like a pillow when he puts his face into it.’”

'Game Of Thrones:' Incest Next To The Dead

No stranger to staggering (or horrific) moments, Game of Thrones outdid itself in this fourth season episode.

Combining incest, rape, and having sex next to your deceased son, the popular HBO series hit the weirdness trifecta in this immensely uncomfortable scene between Cersei and Jaime Lannister, which you can watch right here on YouTube.

The 'Tell Me You Love Me' Handy

In the pilot episode of this provocative series, Scott’s character receives quite the vivid handjob from his wife. Tell Me You Love had a reputation for their candid depiction of sex, one which Scott delved into during a 2011 interview with Vulture.

“They wanted it in the contract that they could show my erection on the show,” Scott said. “So we were like, ‘Wait a second, once an erection is shown on a television show, it’s no longer a fictional show, now it’s a documentary or porn,’ so we had to get them to take that out. So what we ended up doing is when they needed an erection we would have this fake penis that I would have to put on, like it had straps and stuff. And in the pilot she gives me a hand job, so they had to rig up a fake penis that shot hair conditioner. It had a pump in it and there was someone behind the couch working the pump and it would malfunction and spray all over everybody. It was hilarious.”

'True Blood:' Bill And Lorena's Hate Sex

True Blood’s Bill and Lorena prove in this memorable Season 3 scene that there’s a fine line between love and sex.

“You have won. You have deprived me of my freedom. My home. My humanity. But I will never, ever love you. NEVER.”

'Insecure:' Issa Cheats On Lawrence

She does it. Issa stays late at the music studio in episode 5 and hooks up with Daniel, the dude from her past.

Viewers were conflicted, to say the least, about the super steamy couch sesh the two shared. Some thought it was wrong of her to cheat on current boyfriend Lawrence while he was trying to pull his life together, and others simply could not deny the chemistry between Issa and Daniel, and the oh-so-hot hookup. This moment of passion sets up even more decisive drama through the end of the season, but come on, we were all secretly rooting for them to at least make out, right? — Lea Palmieri

'Girls:' The Climax Of Adam And Natalia's Tryst

So much has been written about this controversial scene, and even series creator Lena Dunham admitted back in 2013 that there are no easy answers regarding its uncomfortable conclusion.

“Did what Adam do constitute rape? That’s hard for me to answer,” Dunham told the LA Times. “I’m a rabid feminist, and no woman should ever be placed in a sexual situation that leaves her feeling degraded or compromised. That’s not what sex is supposed to feel like. But I don’t think Adam is a villain. If he thought he had even touched the R-word, he would be unable to live. To me, it seemed like a terrible miscommunication between two people who didn’t know what they really wanted.”

'The Sopranos:' Tony's Birthday Beej

From a tranquil scene that focuses on the enchanting charms of Mother Nature to Tony Soprano’s animated reaction to a morning blow job, this beloved series once again made use of the cozy confines of cable with this semi-surprising scene from Season 6.

Nothing is sexier when the simmering “will they/won’t they” tension finally reaches its sexy, sexy, boiling point.

'Westworld:' A Good Old Fashioned Robot Orgy

Orgy? Okay, you got my attention. Robot orgy? *Into an intercom* Bernie, cancel my appointments!

You’d think a robot orgy would be super erotic, and, hey, maybe it is, but Westworld primarily focused on its main characters arguing about morality, which is kinda an orgy buzzkill. Despite the buzz created when it was leaked that extras had to sign a sex and nudity consent form in which they agreed to “posing on all fours while others who are fully nude ride on your back” and “genital-to-genital” touching, the scene was a bit underwhelming.

'True Detective:' Orgy Scene (Sorry, No Robots)

Here’s the thing about HBO: They love a good orgy scene.

Like most sex bonanzas, this one ends in a release as Rachel McAdams’ Ani Bezzerides slices and dices a creep leaving him for dead.
