Whoo, made it to another Wednesday! Hope you’ve saved up some energy because you’re going to need it to keep up with this week’s ultra-worthy Woman Crush Wednesday.
We’re bowing down to triple threat, Serayah. She sings, she dances, and she acts her butt off every week on FOX’s drama Empire and we can’t get enough of it.
WHO’S THAT GAL: Serayah
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Serayah’s character Tiana on Empire has had to roll with some pretty big punches, both literally and figuratively. Serayah is able to bring a cold, stoic intensity to the performer in one scene, and in the next she’s entirely slaying the stage, singing her heart out and shaking her body with every step. Lately, she’d conquered some pretty great scenes with on-off love interest Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), including meeting his baby daughter. Oh, and not to mention, Tiana is competing yet again to prove herself as the Princess of Empire (the honor of queen of course goes to the one and only Cookie played by Taraji P. Henson) as she goes up against rising star Nessa (Sierra A. McClain), taking muted mics and shoulder bumps on stage in stride. After all, Tiana’s got the track record of jams, which are totally boosted by Serayah’s super pretty voice.
WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Serayah’s first major starring film role came with 2015’s romance, Lucky Girl. She also appeared in Taylor Swift’s video for “Bad Blood” as “Dilemma”, and yes, she is in the #squad. You can currently see Serayah in Burning Sands, a drama about fraternity pledges, on Netflix now.
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER NEXT: We’ve still got a handful of Empire episodes left this season and the music drama is as unpredictable as ever. We can’t wait to see what happens to Tiana, and you know we’ll be keeping an eye on those fabulous clothes she’s always wearing too. Keep singing it, girl!
