It’s the SNL episode that keeps on giving. This week, Taran Killam spilled on what it was like to work with now-President Trump when he hosted Saturday Night Live two years ago. Killam does not remember the experience fondly.

During an interview with Brooklyn Magazine that was excerpted by The Hollywood Reporter, Killam was asked about what it was like to work with Trump when he hosted the show in November of 2015. “It was not fun, and most of the cast and writers were not excited to have him there” Killam said. “I didn’t get the feeling that he was excited to be there, and it felt like a move for ratings from both sides.” The announcement that Trump would be hosting led to controversy and protesting, and reviews of the episode were lackluster.

Killam also confirmed a claim former cast member Pete Davidson once made about Trump’s line reading ability. “He struggled to read at the table read, which did not give many of us great confidence. Didn’t get the jokes, really,” he said. “He’s just a man who seems to be powered by bluster.”

Killam, who still had a year left in his seven-year contract, was asked to leave Saturday Night Live last year along with Jay Pharoah. The comedian has recently been making headlines for his portrayal of King George III in Hamilton. Killam is currently on Broadway until April 13.
