Homeland did it again. The Showtime drama unceremoniously killed off yet another one of its major characters and The Daily Mail reports that fans are not all that thrilled with what went down.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Fan favorite character Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) died in last night’s Season Six finale. The character was introduced in Season Two as a part of a team assigned to surveil Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis). After Brody was killed off the show, Quinn became one of the show’s major players and he evolved into a love interest for Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes). Quinn died while driving Carrie and President-elect Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) to safety from a firefight — all while knowing that he was intended to take the blame for Keane’s planned death.

While some fans seem to think he might have survived (because there was no funeral scene tagged on), Friend seems to have confirmed the death by tweeting:

Fans, on the other hand, used twitter to express their anger over Quinn’s death.

Some fans even expressed that this would be the last episode of Homeland they would watch. The series has already been renewed for two more seasons. The creators are planning on ending it then.

Showtime also seems to have confirmed Peter Quinn’s death. The network published the following tribute video on YouTube this morning:
