Afternoon Delight: Indulge In The Edible Entertainment Of ‘Baked Goodes’

What better way to prepare for the fast-approaching weekend than by indulging in the some of the Internet’s most well-done web content? Take advantage of your lunch break and treat yourself to Afternoon Delight, Decider’s carefully curated picks of the best short-form content available on the world wide web. This week we’re spotlighting Baked Goodes, a new web series produced, directed, and written by women.

Cousins Julie and Angela Goode are running a nearly-dead bakery business and host a sad, deserted stand at a farmer’s market each week. To help save their business, “Baked Goodes”, they enlist the help of their super chill stoner neighbor Jan (pronounced John, because, of course) to guide them into the world of marijuana edibles. Julie, the morally-sound, religious, more uptight of the cousins, is hesitant about engaging in legal activity, but Angela urges her to take the leap and try it out.

After some trial and error when it comes to making their first few batches of brownies, they eventually strike some success, and make what seems like their first sales in a long, long time at their Baked Goodes stand. The pilot finds these ladies and their business off to a pretty successful start, but the 13-episode series sees our trio endure a series of shenanigans that none of them could have predicted.

The chemistry between the women is obvious; they all have different comedic strengths and knacks for timing, which makes each scene a delightful surprise. Each episode clocks in around 6 minutes, and the events at hand become more absurd and exciting as the series progresses. Baked Goodes is also surprisingly occasionally filthy and profound, and explores themes like women in the workplace, marijuana use and stigmas, family, romance, faith, and more. The series manages to be funny, smart, and sincere all at once – and it’s the perfect material to munch on while you light up this 4/20. What are you waiting for? Baked Goodes is fresh out of the oven today. Take six minutes and treat yourself.
