One Stephen Colbert just wasn’t enough to tackle Bill O’Reilly’s recent departure from Fox News.

On the heels of the news that the cable news channel is letting O’Reilly go over a workplace sexual harassment scandal, Colbert turned to his old Comedy Central alter ego to help him bid farewell. After noting that his former Colbert Report character was largely based on the former Fox News political commentator, CBS Colbert kicked it over to “Bill O’Reilly’s biggest fan: conservative pundit Stephen Colbert.”

“Hello, nation. Shame on you,” ‘Colbert’ admonished from outside the quaint mountain cabin he now shares with former Daily Show host Jon Stewart. “You failed him. You failed Bill O’Reilly. You didn’t deserve this great man. All he ever did was have your back. And if you’re a woman… have a go at the front too.”

“And what? Suddenly sexual harassment is a crime? Well, that’s the country we live in now,” ‘Colbert’ continued. “Obama’s Trump’s America.

‘Colbert’ admitted that he always believed this day would come, noting that he knew in his heart that “no one could possibly sustain such a broad character for that long.” Presumably having to get back to the animal sanctuary he tends to with Stewart, ‘Colbert’ concluded his brief farewell to O’Reilly with these simple words:

“Stay strong, papa bear.”
