If you want to be on top of things and able to talk about TV, these series are the ones you should be bingeing this weekend. What are you waiting for? You’ve got some streaming to do.
Dear White People: Season 1 *Netflix Original
The series that prompted a wild response and boycott has finally debuted on everyone’s favorite streaming giant and is even more binge-able than anticipated. Dear White People is a satirical continuation the 2014 movie of the same name, and follows activist and radio show host Sam White after she is elected head of a residence hall at a predominately white Ivy League college and deals with race dynamics within her university. This fresh, innovative series does not shy away from the tough stuff and puts topics on our radar that are more necessary now than ever.

The Handmaid’s Tale: Series Premiere *Hulu Original
Harrowingly relevant as we make our way through the horror show that is 2017, Margaret Atwood’s hit novel The Handmaid’s Tale has been adapted into a stunning series for Hulu. Set in a dystopian United States now called Gilead, the series explores the consequences of a puritanical totalitarian society that subjugates fertile women due to an infertility epidemic and dubs them Handmaids. Elisabeth Moss stars as Offred, a Handmaid determined to escape enslavement and reunite with her daughter. Also starring Joseph Fiennes, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, and Yvonne Strahovski, this series resonates on some unsettling levels. The breathtaking, eerily relatable first three episodes are now available to stream.

Catastrophe: Season 3 *Amazon Original
Amazon’s hilarious hit original series returns for its third season, where we find Rob and Sharon engaged in the same uproarious antics that made us fall in love with them. It seems like their sarcasm and wit only get better with each season, and the latest installment is no exception. This off-beat love story that flawlessly employs black comedy should be at the top of your streaming list. Starring Rob Delaney and the incredibly dynamic Sharon Horgan, Catastrophe is a must-see for any lover of all things comedy.
