We all knew it was only going to be a matter of time before the president weighed in. Last week, Stephen Colbert went off on a rant against Donald Trump, which ended in a homophobic slur that was censored on air. The rant offended many, causing the hashtag #FireColbert to start trending and for rumors that the FCC was investigating Colbert to bubble. Now thanks to an interview with Time, we now know what Trump thinks about Colbert’s latest scandal.

It’s common for Trump to be the butt of late night comedy in 2017, but many were offended by Colbert’s closing joke last week. Colbert ended his opening monologue by calling Trump a “cock holster” for Russian president Vladimir Putin. The president and former reality TV star was not pleased. “There’s nothing funny about what he says,” Trump told Time after describing the late night host as “no-talent.”

“And what he says is filthy. And you have kids watching. And it only builds up my base. It only helps me, people like him. The guy was dying. By the way they were going to take him off television, then he started attacking me and he started doing better. But his show was dying. I’ve done his show. … But when I did his show, which by the way was very highly rated. It was high — highest rating. The highest rating he’s ever had,” Trump said.

It’s true that Colbert has seen an increase in his numbers since Trump was elected. However it’s unclear if Colbert’s interview with Trump achieved the highest rating Colbert ever had. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Colbert’s Daily Show reunion episode is on track to be The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s highest rated episode in 19 months.

The Time article also dives into Trump’s opinions of others in the media, from CNN’s Chris Cuomo (who is described as a “chained lunatic”) to Don Lemon (“who’s perhaps the dumbest person in broadcasting”). You can read the whole interview here.
