Fans of the Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing were none too pleased when the show was cancelled by ABC last week. But this week? They’ve started a petition to save the show and urge fans to boycott the network.

The petition currently has nearly 100,000 signatures and reads, “Last Man Standing stands out in the sea of network television sitcoms. It is a show that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values.”

Last Man Standing is one of the only shows on broadcast television, and the only sitcom, that is not constantly shoving liberal ideals down the throats of the viewers. And sadly, that is likely the real reason the show has been cancelled.”

The petition goes on to urge fans to sign in support of the show returning, and if they so choose, to cancel any DVR settings for other ABC shows, which include the action-drama Designated Survivor, sitcoms such as Fresh Off The Boat and Black-ish, and the ShondaLand slate which includes Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy.

However, Deadline reports that the cancellation of the family sitcom was due to costs, both Allen’s salary demands and the series’ license fee, which ABC should be covering by this time (the show has been on for six seasons), but there was no negotiation with 20th Century Fox TV, the show’s producing studio. ABC has yet to comment on their decision, but perhaps will address it today during their upfront presentation when they unveil the network’s fall slate.
