‘Bang Gang (A Modern Love Story)’ (2015)
What do you do when you’re young, surrounded by hot friends, irresponsible, and have a house all to yourself? If you’re these French teenagers, you start a club all about getting down and dirty. This steamy movie starts as every teenager’s dream come true before spiraling into a cautionary tale about why reckless sex is kind of a bad idea. Feelings are hurt, relationships are injured, babies are made, and STDs are passed around like candy. It’s not the most sensual ending, but it sure has a sexy start.
‘Mulholland Drive’ (2001)
More like Mul-HOT-land Drive! All terrible jokes aside, one of David Lynch’s most erotic films stars Naomi Watts and some of the most disturbing and disjointed hallucinations you can ask for. When Laura Elena Harring suffers from amnesia after a car crash, her world spirals out of control. There’s a dark mystery, obsession, failed actresses, and enough Lynchian turns to make your head spin. If you’re in the mood for something that’s both steamy and award-winning, this is for you.
‘Adulterers’ (2015)
If this movie doesn’t teach you why you shouldn’t cheat on your spouse, nothing will. This indie drama follows a husband who walks in on his wife cheating on him. Instead of bursting into tears or going on an epic boy’s weekend like his other cinematic peers, Sam takes the more intense route, holding the cheating duo up at gunpoint. The rest of the movie delves into their filthy cheating past, forcing them to reveal dark secrets.
‘Basic Instinct’ (1992)
We know the reason why you remember this romantic thriller, but the whole movie is definitely worth a guilty pleasure re-watch. Starring Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas, Basic Instinct follows a crime novelist who starts a passionate affair with a detective who’s investigating her for murder. Yes it’s complicated, but boy is it steamy.
‘After Porn Ends’ (2012) and ‘After Porn Ends 2’ (2017)
Have you ever wondered what happens to adult stars after they get too old for the industry or decide to quit? There’s a documentary for that! Directed by Bryce Wagoner, both movies set out to explore their namesake — to find out what happens to porn stars after porn. The documentaries are a bit more upbeat and less thorough than other movies in the genre, but they’re a fascinating watch nonetheless.
‘The Little Death’ (2014)
Things are about to get a little kinky in this Australian comedy. The vignette-driven film follows the secret sex lives of five suburban couples in Sydney. As the movie progresses and they all get to know each other a bit more intimately, embarrassing and elaborate fetishes are revealed, and things get weird. Could you look your neighbor in the eye after knowing their deepest sexual fantasies? No, I didn’t think so.
'Amorous’ (2014)
Also known as Hide and Seek, this British-American romantic drama may make for an odd double date night movie. The movie follows four young adults who all live together and decide to start partner swapping. However, when a fifth member enters the sexy mix, their lives are turned upside down. Can the radical foursome become a sexy fivesome or will relationships be broken?
‘Summertime’ (2015)
Also known as La Belle Saison, this French-Belgian drama is a great option if you’re looking for something romantic. Set in 1971, the movie follows the daughter of French farmers who decides to try her luck in Paris. However, when she meets a group of scrappy feminists and Carole, her whole life changes. This movie makes a great argument for why you should move out of your parents’ house.
‘Strictly Sexual’ (2008)
What do you do when you’re wealthy and sick of the dating scene? You troll for some gigolos, of course. This comedy filled with misunderstandings follows two wealthy women who, after a confusing night of sex, decide to let their new male friends live with them. There’s only one catch — if the guys want to stay, they have to put out. When things go from silly and sexy to actually emotional, that’s when it get real.
‘6 Years’ (2015)
Out of all the movies on this list, this indie film about toxic relationships is by far the most serious. The movie follows a couple whose passion for each other descends into violence far more than it should. As they fight and make up, the movie begs the question are certain relationships worth saving?
