The British are always coming for Hollywood.
No other nation has exported as many brilliant actors, charming heartthrobs, and sensational superheroes as the United Kingdom has and this tradition continues in 2017. Right now, the American film and TV industry are under siege from a new class of British actors. This new wave includes more diversity — and more swashbucklers — than ever before.
We’ve compiled a list of the Top 10 Hottest British Actors of 2017. Now, a couple things to consider as you peruse this list. One, “British” means anyone from Great Britain (that is it describes anyone of English, Scottish, or Welsh nationality). That means that as much as we love him, Poldark star Aidan Turner couldn’t make the cut because he is Irish. Also, for this list, we wanted to celebrate the new crop of British actors who are soaring to stardom now — in 2017. That is, they’ve either got to have had their big “moment” in the last 12 months or are on the cusp of it. That means, sorry, no Colin Firth or Hugh Grant (as they epitomize the ‘90s), and no Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, or Eddie Redmayne, either. Those latter gents were part of the last class of British actors who crossed the pond and made it in mainstream America.
