GLOW

Powered by Reelgood

If you haven’t watched GLOW, please close out of this browser and go binge it immediately. Not because spoilers are imminent, but because it’s just too damn fun for you not to have experienced yet. Based on the 1980s female wrestling promotion, the Netflix original series follows the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestlinga rag-tag team of women spanning a wide range of age, race, and body-type. Despite massive differences (and betrayals to boot), the ladies must push themselves to master the moves, tackle their own personal issues, and learn to work together as a team. Starring Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, and a flawlessly fiery ensemble cast, GLOW manages to be funny, feminist, and whip-smart to boot.

Did you blow through those glorious ten episodes in record time like we did? If so, you’re probably on the hunt for something to satisfy your witty, wild, women-driven needs. That’s where we come in. We’ve rounded up five rebounds available to stream on Netflix that might just help you heal post-GLOW. While there’s nothing that quite packs the same nostalgic, spandex-covered punch that the show does, we can guarantee that these diverse series are bound to excite you in more ways than one. Here’s what to binge to bounce back from GLOW.

'Jane the Virgin'

The CW

Jane the Virgin doesn’t carry a ton of plot similarities to GLOW, but it does boast an incredible ensemble cast of unique, audacious women who are unabashedly true to themselves. The satirical play on a telenovela tells the story of Jane Villaneuva (the eternally wonderful Gina Rodriguez), a twenty-something aspiring writer resolved to remain a virgin till marriage. While she’s tempted, she sticks to her vow religiously, but her world is turned upside down when an emotional gynecologist accidentally artificially inseminates her and she becomes pregnant. Sound crazy? It is – in all the best ways. As Stefon would say, this show has everything – love stories, loyal friendships, hammy jokes, an incredible narrator, female camaraderie, murder mysteries, and more! What are you waiting for? Three seasons of pure bliss await you.

'Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23'

Before she was Jessica Jones, Krysten Ritter was wreaking havoc on a slew of unsuspecting roommates as the eponymous “bitch in Apartment 23”, a hard-partying freeloader named Chloe. While her long-running series of scams initially seems to be working in her favor, she soon finds her way of life upended when optimistic June moves in with her and the two form an unlikely friendship. The series was criminally short-lived (it only got two seasons) but the chemistry between the two females at the heart and the hilarious writing make Don’t Trust the B—- a total keeper.

'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend'

Rachel Bloom‘s musical stylings may not emulate the 80s hits of GLOW, but we can promise that you might be singing them for days afterwards – they’re just that catchy. In an attempt to pursue happiness (and a former fling), Rebecca (Bloom) leaves behind her bougie New York City law firm job to move to the modest West Covina, California, where things don’t seem to work out the way she planned. Quick, fearless, and occasionally (often) cringeworthy, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is the kind of show that makes you feel like you’ll never be alone – not with relatable ladies like this in the world.

'Chewing Gum'

This might just be the best comedy you’ve never seen. Set in London, this British sitcom follows religious virgin Tracey Gordon (the brilliant Michaela Coel, who also created and wrote the series), a shop assistant who yearns to have sex and open her eyes to the world with the help of a quirky cast of characters. Gross, complicated, and totally delightful, Chewing Gum tells stories that are rarely seen on screen, and we couldn’t be more grateful for it.

'Absolutely Fabulous'

Truly the definition of an oldie-but-a-goodie, Absolutely Fabulous (AKA Ab Fab) is pretty much the British sitcom of your dreams. Created by, written by, and starring the hilarious Jennifer Saunders opposite partner-in-crime Joanna Lumley, the uproarious series follows best friends Edina and Patsy (Saunders and Lumley), two ridiculously selfish, oblivious, drug-using women who make Edina’s daughter absolutely crazy with their insane antics. Every episode is a gift, and there are a wide range of laughs to be had at all of the shenanigans that Eddie and Patsy find themselves in (or are the direct cause of).
