Mark Fuhrman Will Join Fox News to Cover O.J. Simpson’s Parole

Looks like we may have some material for a follow-up to The People v. O.J. It’s been announced that Mark Fuhrman, the former L.A. detective who investigated the murders Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Lyle “Ron” Goldman will be joining the Fox News team covering O.J. Simpson’s parole hearing.

Fuhrman was a huge part of the O.J. Simpson case. The former law officer was known to use racial slurs against African-American people, though he swore under oath that he hadn’t used these words in years. One of the most shocking elements of the case was when Simpson’s defense revealed recorded interviews of Fuhrman using those slurs, proving that he had committed perjury while under oath. When asked if he planted or manufactured evidence, Fuhrman invoked his Fifth Amendment rights. His perjury and behavior in court are often credited as one of the reasons why Simpson was acquitted. It should also be noted that Fuhrman was the only person who was convicted of criminal activity during the “Trial of the Century.”

He will be on the other side of the camera this Thursday. Fuhrman will be joining Fox News Correspondents Claudia Cowan, Jonathan Hunt and Dan Springer as they cover Simpson’s parole hearing live from Nevada’s Lovelock Correctional Facility. According to a press release, Fuhrman, who has been a guest analyst for Fox News several times in the past, will provide “contributions and analysis” during the hearing. Simpson was arrested and convicted in 2007 for armed robbery and kidnapping. The former football star was given a 33-year sentence.

Last year, the Simpson murder trial received a wave of new attention thanks to two critically-acclaimed projects — ESPN’s O.J.: Made in America docuseries and FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Since America has O.J. on the brain once again, this Thursday’s trial is sure to be an event.
