What The Hell Is Happening On ‘Family Feud’ Right Now?

Family Feud is going straight down the toilet, literally. What used to be a mostly wholesome show, with a sly wink here and there, now seems to be primarily about bodily functions.

Steve Harvey read off a recent category question, like it was just another day on the job, because for him, it was. “If you were squeezed really hard, name something that might come shooting out of you,” he asked the two well-dressed women standing in front of him.

The first lady, Christina, answered “a fart” which was the number two response (pun intended), but classified as “juicy fart” when it popped up on the board. Why? Why the “juicy” part? Did all 16 survey-takers use that adjective to describe an unexpected fart? At least Christina had the manners to softly say “Sorry, Mom” after she answered.

But coming in at number one on the board, (also, literally) was contestant Zoey’s answer, “pee.” Harvey repeated it once while chuckling, mouthed the word twice more, and then shouted it out at the board, to be met with the top spot, which garnered 23 replies, and was paired with “Flying Turd.” WHAT?!?

Now, don’t get it twisted: this was not a special potty episode of the show. Sure, fellow bodily functions “snot”, “spit” and “blood” all made appearances on the board during that round of the game. But the questions and answers have been in the gutter all too frequently lately. For instance, this recent episode where the number one answer to, “Name something an astronaut doesn’t want to see floating around the spaceship,” was not only once again “pee,” and shoutout to contestant Jasmine for using the polite terms “waste” and “urine,” but it was paired with “TURDZILLA.” Sixty-one people answered Turdzilla to that survey question? Come on.

Perhaps this is Family Feud‘s attempt at making their clips go viral by using such vile terms, but is it worth it? Do we really want a gameshow to be perpetuating the use of the word “Turdzilla?” Yuck. It’s time for a quick commercial break where Harvey & co. should clean up their act, and the answers, before grossing everyone out.

(Special thanks to @worldofisaac for the heads up!)
