Kathryn! Girl, you were doing so good. This past season of Southern Charm explored the mom of two’s journey to wellness, after a stint in rehab last year, but she made a little bit of a slip recently by hooking up with Thomas Ravenel once again — and after this year’s Southern Charm reunion, which was filmed in NYC in late June.
Ravenel is the father of Kathryn’s children, Kensie, 3, and Saint, 1, and this is not the first time a reunion has gotten them in the mood. In fact, a previous post-reunion hookup led to the conceiving of baby boy Saint. What are they putting in the water at these reunions though?
Kathryn recently revealed to comedian Rachel O’Brien on her podcast, Be Here For A While, around the 41:00 minute mark, that it was the first time she was admitting to the hookup, but that it did indeed take place. “Do you want me to admit something? I have never told anyone this, but after this year’s reunion or whatever, you know how in the past, we’ve hooked up afterwards? That happened this year, and this is the first time I’m saying it,” she revealed.
She denied that the two would ever get back together, but later conceded, saying, “I mean, I’ll never say [never] because lord have mercy, we have said that so many times in the past. When we’re around each other, just like after the reunion, we immediately gravitate towards each other. There’s this like look that we give each other, like we’ve been through a lot and there’s still that attraction and he can still charm me, but I know that it’s like such a specific kind of charm.”
She went on to explain that, “He can charm me, but I realize it’s like a temporary type of intention. It’s only for that moment and after that he’s gonna continue doing what T-Rav wants to do.” Kathryn also said of Thomas that, “I think that he wants to [settle down]. Even when we’ve spoken off-camera, he tells me he’s lonely, he tells me he wishes we could give it another shot, perhaps without the cameras and whatnot around we could really thrive as a family. I know deep down thats what he wants.”
Not that she’s sitting around waiting for him. Kathryn told Rachel that she recently went on a second date with a “really, really nice guy” from Michigan, that she met on Bumble! You go, girl.
But the Thomas hookup does come at a surprising time, as the two are deep in an ugly custody battle for their two children. Earlier in the podcast, Kathryn also detailed the first time she met Thomas and what she initially found so attractive about him. Oh, and he’s not the only Southern Charm cast member she dished on. Kathryn reveals why Cameran’s apology this season was just for the cameras, that time that Whitney told her to wear Lily Pulitzer clothes if she wanted to be on the show, and why she doesn’t buy that Patricia reads the newspaper with gloves on.
Kathryn also mentioned that Shep got even wilder in Key West than we saw on the show, and that Landon’s reunion crying was totally fake, but that she credits herself, Craig and Naomie as being the only “real” cast members on the show.
