All hail the pretty bank teller for putting into words everything #TeamIssa has been feeling for nearly a year now! Last night’s episode of Insecure, “Hella Open,” presented Lawrence’s (Jay Ellis) lady friend Tasha (Dominique Perry) with the phone call we’ve all wanted to make, and for that, we applaud her.

While Issa (Issa Rae) continues to try to date, or “hoe” in this episode, to mixed results, Lawrence has (so far) stuck with his relationship with Tasha this season. You know, the woman whose arms and legs he ran into the moment after he moved out of Issa’s apartment? Yeah, he’s actually stayed with her! Well, except for that (very, very brief) reunion with Issa. But he fessed up to Tasha about that, in his attempt to seem like a genuine dude. So she invites him to a family BBQ. He puts on a nice shirt, carries in some folding chairs, and is immediately welcomed and included by her family. So he decides to dip.

That’s right, after making yet another very, very brief appearance, he ran off to meet some new work friends for drinks instead of hanging with his girlfriend, more or less, at an event she considered meaningful. She had less than a great time, worrying about where he was and sending him texts to make sure he was ok, to which she only got a “be there soon” response, while he was busy telling his cohorts that he’s “dating” and buying a round of drinks for the table to seem as charming as possible.

Only Tasha spent the whole day with her family and never saw him again in that time — and you can tell this is a family that likes to party. So when she finally got a hold of him on the phone, when it was dark outside, she bluntly said, “If you didn’t wanna come, you should’ve just told me that,” quite possibly the truest thing she says during their phone call, which only gets better from here. Tasha tells him, “My whole family was here and you just ghosted. Do you know how embarrassing that was?” He, naturally, pulls the “I’m just not looking to get into anything serious.” Oh, Lawrence. Of course you’re not.

At this point, Tasha goes off and puts into words everything #TeamIssa has been feeling, saying “Quit acting like you give a fuck about what I want. I knew it wasn’t nothing serious, but see, you fronted like it was, apologizing for shit you wasn’t even sorry for.” And then, she sums it all up in 2 words: “You a f— n—,” going on to say, “You worse than a f— n—, you a f— n— who thinks he’s a good dude.” And that right there is the only character description Lawrence ever needs.

Tasha is right, Lawrence is in fact a fuckboi, through and through. Which is perhaps best exemplified by the fact that after what should be an upsetting phone call…he just goes right back to the party. And again, this is a man that spent the entirety of his relationship with Issa sitting in sweatpants on the couch, oh, but now “networking” is a priority for him? Pssh.

Lawrence always has, and probably always will, do what he wants when he wants, and can’t be bothered with the schedules or feelings of others. When he knows he’s messed up, he turns that charm back on and tries to seem genuine and caring, but it’s simply to momentarily get out of the dog house. Because this right here is a dude that is never satisfied with what he has, especially when it’s a good thing, which somehow, he keeps lucking into. Both Issa and Tasha gave him a place to stay, let him have a sizable amount of space, and were way too good for him. So of course he has to go out and test that charm on other women.

Lawrence is not a good dude. Sure, he’ll tell you he is, which is what only makes him worse. Saying he deserved Issa cheating on him might be a tiny bit of a stretch, but he was just as complicit in that relationship’s demise, a fact he’ll never admit to anyone, and instead goes around pouting and trying to rack up sympathy from anyone and everyone. This kind of man is quicksand, just waiting to bring down women who have their lives together, and the more ladies that recognize this type of behavior, the better. That includes you, #TeamLawrence! Stand by your man at your own risk, but learn to spot a fuckboi when you see one.

Thank you Tasha, for putting all those feelings into words. Because, after all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
