When we talk about streaming culture, we’re usually enthusing about what’s new, but one of the best things about streaming is how it’s made old and obscure cult hits available to a new generation. Presenting Cult Corner: your weekly look into hidden gems and long-lost curiosities that you can find on streaming.

Vacations are great, aren’t they? You can relax, temporarily forget about your worries, and take a pause from work. However, for all of their benefits, there’s a definite downside to vacations — they cost money. And more often than not, they’re going to cost you more than you want to pay.

Whether it’s one too many unexpected cab rides or the scalping promise that left your wallet lighter and your evening entertainment-free, when you’re traveling somewhere new it’s an unspoken given that you’re going to spend too much money on dumb things. One show on television sees all of our tourist-exclusive woes and promises that it doesn’t have to be this way. Welcome to the world of Scam City.

The reality show has aired on both Travel + Escape and National Geographic Channel, and its goal its simple. Scam City merely wants to educate viewers about all the scams they need to avoid when they’re travelling in a new place. The series is hosted by Conor Woodman, a man who is willing to go to any lengths to intentionally fall for a scam. From morally questionable cab drivers to pimps, Woodman surrounds himself with shady characters each episode all with the goal of showing viewers what these scams look like and how to avoid them. The series excels in its educational goals. You’ll walk away from Scam City knowing how to spot an overpriced cab ride or a street hustle. But more than that, the series proves that it’s just really fun to watch a grown man get hustled repeatedly. It’s like watching a real-life version of Review.

Watching television in the age of streaming is a glorious thing. You have access to almost any show you want at any moment. However, sometimes you just want to veg out to a pseudo-reality show and watch an adult be tricked repeatedly. If that sounds appealing, there truly isn’t a better watch than Scam City.
