The name Christopher Cantwell has gotten a lot of attention over the last few days, for very horrific reasons. Cantwell, a prominent white nationalist, was a major figure in this past weekend’s tragic events in Charlottesville, Virginia, and he was prominently featured in VICE News Tonight’s documentary about the rally and counter protest. Now that people know the name Christopher Cantwell, they’re ready and willing to tell the Nazi what’s up, especially on social media.

That’s turned out to put other Christopher Cantwells–like the one that’s the co-creator and showrunner for AMC’s period drama Halt and Catch Firein an interesting spot. Initially, Cantwell took the surreal news that he shares a name with a hateful white supremacist in stride.

He also shared a deeply personal story about his grandfather, who was forced into being part of the Hitler Youth movement at the age of 10 (click on the tweet below for the whole thread).

The Twitter thread ends with:

Fans of his also tried to clarify that if people wanted to rightfully direct anger towards a Christopher Cantwell, @ifyoucantwell wasn’t their guy.

Cantwell even changed his Twitter bio to include “Not the shitty racist awful Christopher Cantwell.” But… that hasn’t stopped the anger.

Always give Nazis a piece of your mind, for sure, but also make sure to check the bio just in case you’ve found an innocent bystander with the same name.

In other news, at least the Nazi Chris Cantwell has been booted off of OkCupid.
