Eagle-eyed fans of Marvel’s The Defenders won’t find this a surprise, but Netflix‘s latest Marvel series Marvel’s The Punisher has a brand new teaser trailer, and it’s seriously intense. After sneaking the trailer in as a post-credits Defenders scene, the platform sneakily dropped the official teaser online this morning. Emerging from Daredevil Season 2 with his own story to tell, Jon Bernthal is back as Frank Castle, and he’s here to collect.

The ex-Special Forces man-turned-merciless-vigilante with a love of weapons and vengeance delivers a monologue via voiceover about the demons from his past that keep coming back to haunt him, and that the devil he’s sold his soul to is here to collect.  “Of all the things that’s I’d done, memories they’d never hurt me. The past is more than memories, it’s the devil you sold your soul to. He’s comin’. He’s coming to collect.”

Quick cuts of violent sequences, torturous mayhem, and the murder of Castle’s family round out a suspenseful, eerie “Demolition” teaser, and by the end, he’s carved the Punisher’s signature skull into the ground. In addition to Bernthal, The Punisher is set to star fellow Daredevil cast member Deborah Ann Woll, as well as Westworld‘s Ben Barnes and GirlsEbon Moss-Bachrach.

Netflix has yet to drop a release date for the series, but the teaser confirms that the 13-episode first season of The Punisher will drop sometime in 2017.
