Repo! The Genetic Opera

That crisp, cool breeze can only mean one thing: fall is coming. And if fall is coming, that means October is coming. And if October is coming, that means Halloween is coming! If you’re looking for a fright this September, then Shudder’s new additions are a can’t miss.

Elijah Wood and John Cusack star in Grand Piano, a tense thriller about a piano prodigy where playing the wrong note will get him sniped. There’s also the French sci-fi drama Missions, which Shudder snatched the U.S. and Canada streaming rights to last month. The series tracks a mission to Mars that quickly becomes a rescue endeavor when a competing astronaut team gets in trouble.

For the low price of just $4.99 a month, Shudder will grant you access to all the horror hits and blood-curdling indie gems you can handle. Based on a musical of the same name, this outrageous horror show depicts a dark future where body parts are loaned out to those that need them, and you really don’t wanna get your body parts repossessed. This is a must watch for fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, because it features the powerful pipes of Anthony Stewart Head! That’s right–Giles is in this genetic opera! The film focuses on adoptive siblings (who are also lovers, no big deal) that conspire to murder their abusive father. Manson stars as a hitman that gets in the way of this murder plot, and things get bloody.

Indie horror auteur Ti West used the real life Jonestown massacre to inspire this unsettling found footage thriller. In The Sacrament, a trio of journalists travel to a reclusive commune called Eden Parish on a mission to rescue a family member from the clutches of the cult. As with the real life events of Jonestown, though, things don’t go very well for all involved.
