If you used your Labor Day wisely, you’re probably all caught up on one of the most thrilling shows of this summer, Netflix’s Narcos. Narcos has always been a fast-paced rollercoaster of a show, but Season 3 was something special. Following the death of Pablo Escobar, Season 3 came back to television at full force with badder villains, more crimes, and more sneaky, pseudo-legal maneuvering than ever before.
Narcos’ dive into the world of the Cali Cartel was truly a great season of TV, which naturally left us wondering when we can expect more. Here’s your guide to Narcos future and where Season 4 may lead this insane, bloody series. Spoilers ahead.
Has Narcos been renewed for a Season 4?
It sure has. In the world of Narcos, there’s always a cartel that needs to be put back in its place, and there’s always a DEA agent up to the task. While Season 4 likely won’t return to the Medellín Cartel, it will likely continue to explore Colombia. However, the Netflix series currently hasn’t been renewed for a fifth season yet.
When will Narcos Season 4 premiere?
We don’t have a definite date for this, but we do have history on our side. Season 1 of the Netflix Original premiered on August 28, 2015, and Season 2 premiered on September 2, 2016. This past season of the series also premiered in early September — September 6 to be exact. Based on this trend and assuming there won’t be any major production delays, we can likely expect to see Narcos Season 4 in early September of 2018.
What will Narcos Season 4 focus on?
The best way to predict Narcos‘ future is to look into its past. Season 1 and 2 of the series did a wonderful job chronicling the rise and fall of both Pablo Escobar and the Medellín Cartel, and for the most part, Season 3 excelled at telling Cali’s story. However, it’s always possible that’s there’s more of Cali’s story to tell.
Also, Narcos still has a lot of cartel-based source material to pull from. If the show ever gets tired of exploring the Cali Cartel (how could it?), there’s also the Norte de Valle Cartel and the North Coast Cartel. Basically, the question for Narcos Season 4 doesn’t seem to be where will it go but where won’t it go? Either way, based on Season 3’s conclusion Pedro Pascal seems to be in, and so am I.
