Amazon continues to make headlines but for all the wrong reasons.

On the heels of their high-profile cancellations of the F. Scott Fitzgerald duo of The Last Tycoon and Z: The Beginning of EverythingThe Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Directors Guild of America has imposed a hefty fine on Jill Soloway and Amazon after directors from the series I Love Dick claimed they didn’t receive credit for scenes they shot that were then used in other episodes.

What exactly constitutes a hefty fine? Sources told THR that the original fine was as high as $2 million dollars but that current negotiations could result in the actual penalty being in the mid-six figure range. But there’s even more to the story. The directors also claimed that Soloway’s on-set activities were interfering with their job. Guild rules not only stipulate that credit and compensation must be doled out if footage or scenes shot by one director end up in an episode shot by a different director, but they also require that notes to TV cast and crew come from the director.

Soloway is expected to meet with the DGA to discuss the situation as well as her creative process.

Soloway, a former DGA Award-winner, recently announced that she was stepping down as showrunner for the upcoming fifth season of her other Amazon series, Transparent. She’ll be succeeded by Jill Gordon but will continue to write, direct, and executive produce the well-regarded comedy.

I Love Dick is still awaiting word about a potential second-season renewal.
