‘The Price Is Right’ Just Gave Away The Most Money Ever On the Wheel

One of the most popular television game shows, The Price is Right, has been steadily entertaining viewers via the tube since 1956. Week after week, contestants face the Wheel during the show’s showcase showdown for a chance to win thousands of dollars. On yesterday’s broadcast, a trio of contestants made history by spinning $1 a record-breaking five times in a row to win a whopping total of $80,000.

The sequence of spins, which you can watch via the clip below, seemed to wow the audience as well as Drew Carey who was celebrating his tenth anniversary of hosting the CBS game show. In light of the anniversary, instead of getting a $1,000 bonus for spinning $1 on the wheel, contestants Wilbert, Charlotte and Zacharia won $10,000 each time according to the clip‘s description.

Now after a total of $30,000 had been won, a second round of tiebreaker spins resulted in two of the contestants winning an additional $25,000 each. Eventually, Charlotte nabbed the win, however all of the contestants got to keep their prize money. The Price is Right ended up giving away $80,000 – the most that has ever been given away on the wheel – even during Bob Barker’s 50-year stint as the show’s host.
