Amy Schumer is not one to hold things back. The comedian stayed true to herself on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she discussed her background as a theater kid, gaining weight in the public eye, and the ups and downs of living with Twitter trolls.
“Have you ever had the kind of weight gain where your coats don’t fit?” the comedian and actress asked Kimmel’s audience before explaining that she gained a significant amount of weight last year. When the host asked about online comments on her looks, Schumer thanked Kimmel for promoting these trolls through his various Mean Tweets segments, noting that “We’re so blessed with the internet that people give you constant feedback on your looks.”
However, Schumer joked that there is an upside to these online trolls. “Sometimes, it kind of backfires, I think, on the trolls. The other day somebody tweeted about me: ‘Amy Schumer’s body looks like a bag of mashed potatoes.’ And I was like, okay, now I need mashed potatoes.”
If Twitter trolls are going to continue trolling, why not turn their comments into inspiration?
