In the almost two weeks since The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) premiered on Netflix, praise for the film has come from all angles. The writing, the direction, and the performances, which our own Joe Reid described as “wall to wall perfection,” are excellent, and the film has serious awards potential if Netflix can capitalize on the buzz.

While many of the cast members, including Adam Sandler, Emma Thompson, and Dustin Hoffman, are old pros in the industry, there’s one star that is just starting to break through: Grace Van Patten, who plays Eliza, Danny’s (Adam Sandler) daughter. Van Patten plays the role with the confidence of a seasoned actor, and although she doesn’t appear in much of the middle third of the film–Eliza is a film student at Bard who makes experimental, vaguely pornographic films–her scenes at the beginning and end of the film are moving beyond belief.

Clearly, Van Patten is the real deal, and Hollywood has started to take note of her star power. Want to learn more about the 20-year-old actress who’s about to hit it big? Here’s everything you need to know about Grace Van Patten, The Meyerowitz Stories‘ show-stopping daughter.

Grace Van Patten Looks Familiar. How Do I Know Her?

If you’re an avid Netflixer, you probably recognize Van Patten from her starring role in Tramps, the crime-comedy that premiered on the streaming service in April. Van Patten plays Ellie, a getaway driver who, with nice-guy Danny (Callum Turner), mistakenly delivers a briefcase to the wrong person. The duo then must travel around New York to retrieve the briefcase and get it to the right people, and of course, they catch feelings in the process.  There’s no real meat to Tramps, but it’s a fun rom-com that showcases Van Patten’s range and natural chemistry with a variety of actors.

Apart from Tramps, the young actress has appeared in a few smaller roles in well-known projects. She had a small part in the 2015 crime drama Stealing Cars alongside William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman. Van Patten also appeared in HBO favorites Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos, two series that her father, Timothy Van Patten, directed for years.

What’s She In Next?

If you’re itching for more Grace Van Patten, you can find her On Demand in the comedy The Wilde Wedding. The actress plays the granddaughter of retired movie star Eve Wilde (Glenn Close), whose fourth wedding is derailed by the surprise arrival of her first husband (John Malkovich). Once again, Van Patten is in good company: Patrick Stewart, Minnie Driver, and Peter Facinelli round out the star-studded cast.

The actress will also be appearing in the highly-anticipated 2018 crime noir Under the Silver Lake from It Follows director David Robert Mitchell. Plot details are scarce, but IMDb reveals that Van Patten will be playing “Balloon Girl” (who knows what that means) alongside Riley Keough, Andrew Garfield, Zosia Mamet, and other young talents. For an actress with only 9 roles on her filmography, nabbing a featured role in a large production like Under the Silver Lake is a huge accomplishment.
