Stranger Things

Powered by Reelgood

This weekend, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO, Showtime, STARZ, Sundance Now, Acorn TV, BritBox, Shudder, Tribeca Shortlist, and more are adding a bunch of new titles just begging to be binged. Whether you’re looking for a family friendly flick or a highly-anticipated season of your favorite series, this weekend’s selections may meet just about every request that crosses your mind.

Netflix’s original content continues its top-quality pattern with a shiny new season of Stranger Things and a breathtaking Joan Didion documentary, and they do not disappoint. In the mood for more Noah Baumbach after The Meyerowitz Stories? His 2015 comedy While We’re Young is also available to stream. Did you miss out on some of the last year’s best films? Don’t fret – the Oscar-nominated Arrival is on its way to Amazon and Hulu, and M. Night Shyamalan’s terrifying Split hits HBO Saturday evening as well. Between all this original content and big-time box office winners, you’ll barely have time to breathe this weekend – so hop to it! Here’s what’s new on your favorite platforms.

Stranger Things 2 *Netflix Original

We’ve waited patiently and now it’s finally here! We couldn’t be more excited about all the mysteries that await us in Hawkins. The gang returns for nine episodes this season and take on the horrors of the Upside Down (and puberty). Get ready for twists, turns, answers to lingering questions, and some of the scariest Stranger Things yet – it’s all coming with the second installment of Netflix’s nostalgic hit series.

Arrival (2016)

Nominated for 8 Academy Awards, this gorgeous science fiction film from Denis Villenueve follows linguistics professors Louise Banks (Amy Adams in a career-best performance) as she aids the military in interpreting the language of the aliens that have come to earth. Rife with thrilling moments and emotional depth, Arrival is the kind of film that only comes around once every few years.

Split (2017)

Perhaps the film that officially marked M. Night Shyamalan‘s real comeback to the thriller genre, Split features James McAvoy as Kevin, a deeply troubled man with 23 personalities who begins to fall apart when a new entity struggles to break through. After he abducts three teenage girls, the personalities wage war within him as his victims wage war against him – and a wild sequence of terrifying twists and turns ensue.
