If you find math horrifying, then do not watch Cube! This thriller drops a group of seven convicts into a booby-trapped cube-prison and then lets them search for the safe way out. The problem is there are a lot of death traps between them and freedom, and it looks like only math can guide them to safety.

Mulholland Drive  (2001) – (US)

This film loosely follows an aspiring actress (Naomi Watts) as she tries to survive her move to Los Angeles, but–this being a David Lynch noir film–it’s so much more than that. And it being a Lynch film, it also defies explanation! That might be because Mulholland Drive was initially conceived of as a TV pilot, but was retrofitted and supplemented with more footage to become a feature after networks passed on it. The resulting film is truly riveting and unsettling, even for Lynch.

John Carpenter’s followup to Halloween, The Fog takes place in a coastal town as it celebrates it’s 100th anniversary. That’s the good news; the bad news is that 100th anniversary comes just as a mysterious–and evil–fog drifts into town, brining with it dangerous spirits, ghosts, and ghouls ready to make sure the citizens don’t live to see the 101st anniversary.
