Wanna predict the future? Start telling your friends about how Samara Weaving is just about to be the biggest actress on the planet, and then sit back and watch it happen. Like, right now. It’s happening in this very moment. Which is why we’re so excited to name her our Woman Crush Wednesday.

WHO’S THAT GAL: Samara Weaving

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Look, it could be very easy to describe her as the next Margot Robbie, and that wouldn’t be inaccurate. While both gorgeous blond ladies hail from Australia, Samara’s currently weaving her own unique path in the entertainment industry. Already starring in shows and movies from action to comedy to drama to horror (and sometimes even a blend of genres), Samara has quickly established herself as a stand-out. While you’ve probably seen her in a project or two, and there are plenty more on the way, she brings to the screen the effortless confidence of an A-list actress, all while she’s enjoying her big breakout moment — a moment that’s just beginning, but showing no sign of ending soon.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: The 25-year-old model and actress got her start on Australian TV shows Out of the Blue and Home and Away. She’s appeared in Ash vs Evil Dead, the 2016 movie Monster Trucks, and thriller Mayhem with Steven Yeun. She’s even been a music video girl! You can check her out in Charlie Puth’s “Attention”.

And are you one of the many, many Netflix viewers buzzing over The Babysitter? Then you’ll recognize Samara as Bee, the babysitter herself. She starts the movie off as a sweet and goofy pal to Cole (Judah Lewis) and quickly becomes one of the bitchiest horror movie villains we’ve seen recently…while still remaining likable! The starring role made a lot of eyes open wide, with terror and excitement and the thrill of discovering a great new talent. She’s the kind of presence you can’t take your eyes off of, even when a head is pouring blood right next to her.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: This month, you can catch Samara in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and in 2018 she’ll star opposite Natalie Dormer in the series adaptation of Picnic at Hanging Rock on Amazon.

But starting this Sunday, you can see Samara as Nelson Rose Taylor on SMILF. She plays the girlfriend of Bridgette’s (Frankie Shaw) baby daddy, Rafi (Miguel Gomez), but the role allows her to be so much more than just a new hot girl. As a sports reporter, the supporting role in the Showtime series is able to address the sexism so frequently associated with the profession, while also making Nelson a sympathetic character. She genuinely wants to bond with Bridgette, and respects her without feeling threatened. Samara helps the character to avert the bimbo stereotype, while becoming extremely charming as the show progresses, and even earns herself worthy LOLs along the way. And ta da! Just like that, we’ve got a bright, rising star on our hands and our screens.
