Magic YIKES: Ellen Is Responsible for Channing Tatum’s Dad Finding Out He Used to Be a Stripper

Oh, Ellen DeGeneres. Your mom-and-dad-friendly brand of daytime comedic hijinks have served you well and entertained America for well over a decade now. But sometimes all the joking around goes too far! Sometimes, a friendly promotional strip tease for a major motion picture ends up blowing the lid off of a deep family secret!

Channing Tatum knows this all too well.

On Wednesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, guest host Channing Tatum welcomed Ellen as a guest, and he ended up informing her of a seven year old open wound. DeGeneres had the JKL staff roll a clip from February 2010 wherein Tatum spoke of his stripping expertise, earned from his stint as an exotic dancer before his movie career took off, and then gave Ellen a lap-dance.

After the clip, present-day Channing told Ellen the horrible truth: “That was my very first time on your show, and I gotta tell you: that’s the very first time my dad actually found out I was a stripper for a short time.”

“And how did he take it?” Ellen asked.

“Not well,” Tatum replied.

Ellen proceeded to give Channing a pep talk, which honestly was probably needed for the 37-year-old multi-talented actor/dancer with good looks and a cool haircut and millions of dollars in the bank. We can all hope Pop Tatum ended up getting over the initial shock and embarrassment of learning his son once shook his bum for ladies’ enjoyment by the time Magic Mike opened and Channing was shaking his bum for the enjoyment of the whole world.
