When news broke yesterday afternoon that the New York Times was about to run a story wherein five women went public with their stories of comedian Louis C.K.’s sexual misconduct towards them, one of the first shoes to drop was C.K. canceling his appearance on last night’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Last night, after a bit on some other sexual misconduct accusations — these against U.S. Senate candidate from Alabama Roy Moore — Colbert mentioned that Louis would be a no-show:

“For those of you tuning in to see my interview with Louis C.K. tonight, I have some bad news. Then I have some really bad news. Louis cancelled his appearance here tonight because the New York Times broke this story today: five women are accusing Louis C.K. of sexual misconduct. When reached for comment, Jesus said, ‘La la la la la, I don’t want to hear about it! I was a big fan! La la la la la!.'”

The allegations, which tell similar stories of C.K. getting young female comedians behind closed doors (or sometimes on the phone) and then masturbating in front of them, have been whispered about or alluded to for a while. Comedian and One Mississippi star Tig Notaro has spoken previously about C.K.’s need to “take care of” his past misdeeds.

C.K. has thus far not issued a statement, though in addition to canceling his Colbert apperance, the New York premiere of his feature film I Love You, Daddy (the plot of which deals with a Hollywood bigwig with a penchant for underage girls) was also canceled.
