Megyn Kelly Confuses Dermot Mulroney and Dylan McDermott—And Calls Dermot “Dylan” To His Face

If you thought that Megyn Kelly‘s hour of Today has gotten its act together, you’d be wrong. The latest in a series of gaffes comes today, when Megyn confused Dermot Mulroney, the man sitting on her couch, with Dylan McDermott, the actor known for his roles in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and American Horror Story, among others.

Mulroney appeared on Megyn Kelly Today to promote his upcoming Hallmark film, The Christmas Train, a classic holiday-themed rom-com about a journalist who embarks on a cross country road trip that leads him to love. Mulroney discussed his role, and Megyn brought up the fact that the actor also plays the cello throughout the movie, but she did it in the most Megyn Kelly of ways.

“Not only does Dylan act in these movies,” started Megyn, before Mulroney interrupted her to say that his name is “Dermot.” The host recovered by insisting that she “was going to raise Dylan McDermott in a second,” to which Mulroney offered a resigned “I know.”

Clearly, Mulroney gets this all the time. He was a good sport about Megyn’s gaffe, insisting that “Dylan is an awesome guy” and continuing the interview as if she hadn’t just gotten his name wrong.

Now we’re left with one question: can Dylan McDermott also play the cello?
