Alec Baldwin may be spending a lot of time playing President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live lately, but it turns out real political aspirations might not actually be out of the realm of possibilities for the actor. While promoting his new book co-authored with Kurt Andersen, “You Can’t Spell America without Me: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump (A So-Called Parody)”, Baldwin was asked by an audience member if he thought he would make a good president.

“Yeah, I think I’d be a good president,” Baldwin told the audience at George Washington University Tuesday night. “To run for office is something that I want to do,” he said, but did admit that running for any elected position “doesn’t seem to be practical with my lifestyle and my children.” Baldwin also conceded that Trump may have turned people off from wanting another celebrity as president, and that would likely hurt his chances. “I’m not quite sure that Trump has left it open for nontraditional candidates,” said Baldwin. “The pendulum may swing the other way, and people are going to want people with real, bonafide credentials.”

Baldwin’s book, a satirical biography chronicling Trump’s first year in office, was released last week. While Baldwin may have reservations about running for president due to Trump’s behavior, he’s certainly got the Twitter temperament for the job.
