‘Longmire’ Returns For Its Final Season Before Riding Off Into The Sunset

Are you prepared for one final showdown?

Today’s the day Longmire fans have been waiting for since September of 2016: The unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County has finally returned to kick a little ass and dispense a whole lot of justice as the final 10 episodes of the beloved western thriller are now available to stream. Based on author Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire mystery novels, Netflix revived the series back in 2014 after it was canceled by A&E after three seasons. Now the titular gruff but fair lawman (Robert Taylor) prepares to take care of some unfinished business before putting his gun in the holster for the final time.

Also starring Katee Sackhoff, Cassidy Freeman, and Lou Diamond Phillips — who may be contractually obligated to appear in any and all Netflix shows that have to do with the Wild West considering he also made an appearance on the latest season of The Ranchthe new season will deal with the events of the Season 5 finale. Malachi kidnapped Henry (the aforementioned Phillips), took him to a remote reservation, staked him to the ground, and left him for dead.

Sure, Longmire and Henry are on the outs, but we know he’ll do anything in his power to save his friend. Can Walt find him on his own? Will the sheriff be forced to team with his nemesis (Jacob Nighthorse) to save his pal? Only 10 episodes remain in the complicated tale of Walt Longmire.

Executive producers Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin, and John Coveny said they’re committed to delivering a satisfying conclusion for longtime fans.

“We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories,” the trio said in a statement. “Most importantly, we’re committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty.”
