Seth Meyers Will Be Hosting The Golden Globes

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has confirmed that Seth Meyers will host the 75th Golden Globe Awards ceremony on January 7, 2018. Earlier this week, it had been reported that the Late Night With Seth Meyers host and SNL alum was in negotiations for the NBC gig.

Meyers follows fellow NBC host The Tonight Show‘s Jimmy Fallon, who emceed last year. Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey & Amy Poehler have also recently fronted the show.

“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is excited to have Seth Meyers host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards,” said HFPA President Meher Tatna. “With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year.”

The one-time SNL head writer has hosted Late Night since 2014, and has seen a considerable boost in ratings thanks to his political coverage and criticism of the Trump administration. NBC recently claimed its 4th consecutive 52-week demo ratings win and was No. 1 in late-night with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Meyers’ Late Night.

Meyers’ previous hosting duties have included the 2010 ESPYs and the 2014 Primetime Emmys, as well as the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner, in which he skewered then reality-host Donald Trump.

NBC is airing a two-hour Golden Globes 75th Anniversary Special on December 13 with Will & Grace stars Eric McCormack and Debra Messing leading the proceedings. That’s two days after nominations will be announced on December 11. The prizes will be handed out on January 7 from the Beverly Hilton with NBC airing live from 8 p.m. ET.
