Danny Masterson Gives Statement After Being Fired From Netflix’s ‘The Ranch’

Now isn’t a good time for Netflix and sexual assault allegations. Anthony Rapp‘s allegations about Kevin Spacey led to Spacey being fired and a major House of Cards delay. The allegations against Louis C.K. led to Netflix dropping its second multi-million stand up special from the comedian. And now Netflix has fired former That ’70s Show star Danny Masterson from its comedy The Ranch.

Sexual assault allegations have been following Masterson around for a while now. Noted Scientology critic Tony Ortega even broke the news about the charges against Masterson and the LAPD’s alleged cover-up of the story and Scientology’s involvement back in March. However, the story came to a head this week when one of Masterson’s rape accusers approached a Netflix executive at a youth soccer game. The story was met with instant backlash.

News of the firing, in the wake of a very bad week for Netflix, came earlier this morning. After executives for the company claimed they didn’t believe the claims against Masterson, the company finally confronted the allegations and decided to fire the actor. “As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “Yesterday was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him.”

According to The Huffington Post‘s Yashar Ali, Masterson has now given a statement about his firing.

This is an ongoing story. We will update if and when we learn more.
